Big Watermelon is an Ideas Factory.
A Copywriting & Design studio created by Luke Duggan and April Zhang.
The two of us have collaborated with dozens of global ad agencies and brands to create the body of work you see under the section deftly titled 'Work'.
The list of places are behemoths Apple, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy, Dentsu, Havas, DDB, R/GA, TBWA, AKQA, VML and other letters of the alphabet strung together.
On top of that we have created international art exhibitions, edited magazines (in paper!) and designed restaurants.

Our work is divided into two. Western and Chinese. Big Watermelon has increased sales in Chinese markets for P&G, UberEats, HSBC, Estée Lauder, Opti-free, Tai Kang Group, and refreshed the branding for JW Marriott and Infiniti motors. And targeted Chinese speaking customers in secondary markets for ATO, Census, The Salvation Army, NRMA, DrinkWise Australia, Fetch TV, Toyota, Pickles Auctions and Ethnic Business Awards Australia.
Hi this is April (the bob-haired one).
I am a B2B/B2C Chinese copywriter (simplified and traditional) and designer, lived and worked in Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Perth, Sydney, Honolulu and NYC with more than 10 years of working experience in creative Chinese Copywriting, name generation, press releases and translation, with extensive knowledge in Chinese culture, working with clients across multiple industries - Luxury, FMCG, Beauty, Tourism, Home Appliances and Automotive. I am fluent in both English and Chinese Languages. I customize all marketing materials according to the market, target audience and creative messaging, to go deeper than word-to-word translation.
The salesy bit:
We can work independently or create the advertising copy and intuitively work together on the art direction. Generating new visuals and design, or work within existing brand guidelines.
We specialize not only in crafting copy, advertising campaigns, and branding solutions, but also offer design, strategic thinking and is well-versed in the art of Chinese language and culture. Understanding the nuances and intricacies of effectively communicating with Chinese-speaking audiences, enables us to create compelling and culturally relevant content that resonates on a deeper level, expand your business into the Chinese-speaking regions, and be up to date on Chinese culture.
